This is the first year that Saint Anne's has a Summer Camp from 12:00 to 3:30 so that those parents who need to work will be able to pick up their children at a more convenient time. Students are enjoying art, indoor games, robotics, legos, and many other activities each day.
Saint Anne School Academic Decathlon made up of 6th through 8th grade students won THIRD PLACE in the Super Quiz Category and Alana in Grade Eight won Second Place in Fine Arts. They have studied every day after school and on Saturdays for 4 hours to achieve this honor in the Diocese of Orange. We are so very proud of them!
During Catholic Schools Week we made cards and baskets and delivered these to our Front Responders during the COVID crisis. These included Supervisor Do, Santa Ana Police Department, Saint Joseph Hospital and our local Fire Department.
On October 18, 34 students received their First Holy Communion after a 7 month delay due to the pandemic. Parents and close relatives were able to be present at this Mass. Father Antonio was the celebrant.
Saint Anne School began to celebrate the Eucharist together on two days: Thursday for Grades 1-4 and on Friday for Grades 5-8. Masses are held outdoors under the tent. Students and faculty are grateful to be able to celebrate and pray together.
Saint Anne School will have a NOON DISMISSAL on October 28th and 29th for Parent/Teacher Conferences which will be ZOOM MEETINGS. Parents were sent a link so that they can sign up for conferences between 1:30 and 4:30 pm on Wednesday and Thursday.
This past week our Band Program began. Here are the days and times students will be practicing: MONDAY: Advanced Jazz Band, 3:00 - 6:00 pm (students selected by audition only) WEDNESDAY: Beginning and Intermediate Band, 3:00 - 5:00 pm (Any student in Grades 4-8) FRIDAY: Drum Line, 3:00 - 6:00 pm (Any student in Grades 4-8)
This past week two officials from Notre Dame University made visits to our school in order to meet with Sr. Teresa and Mr. Colin DeGuzman who is receiving a Masters of Education from the Notre Dame University.
The Academic Decathlon Team will have it's KICK 0FF on Monday at 5:00 to 7:00 pm. This year our team will have even greater support from the Brady Family, Mr Loungarikis, and a few of the long standing coaches that have paved our way to success in the past years. Twenty Two students asked to be part of the team but we could only accept 14.
Our Band Program is going to begin in Mid October. We will offer Advanced Band/Jazz Band for Grades 6-8; Beginning Band for Grades 4-8; and Drum line for Grades 5-8. The cost is $50.00 for the first half of the school year per student. A sign up google form will be sent home this coming week. Mr. Bruno Cilloniz will be teaching all of the classes. The schedule is: Monday: Jazz Band, 3:00 to 6:00 pm in Cirilio Hall Wednesday: Beginning Band, 3:00 - 5:00 pm Friday: Drum Line, 3:00 - 6:00 pm Saturday: Drumline from 10:00 to 12:30pm; Jazz Band from 12:30 - 2:30 pm
On Thursday a truck driven by a School Board member, Mr. Heffernan, went to Calexico with a huge load of shampoo, detergent, food items, toothpaste, school supplies, games and puzzles, and new and used shoes. These will be distributed to three shelters in Mexicale, especially one where there are 184 women and children. This will make a huge difference in their lives. You were the hands and heart of Jesus to them!
The dates for First Reconciliation and First Communion have been announced. First Reconciliation will take place on October 14th. First Holy Communion will take place on October 17th at 10:30 am
Saint Anne School will be collecting the following items for the Mexicali Refugee Center where 184 women and children have been living for the last 7-8 months. At the present they are desperately in need of: gently worn shoes/socks; detergent; shampoo, hand lotion; puzzles for children; coloring books/crayons. We will have the collection on Monday and Tuesday, the last week of September. Thank you for your support of our brothers and sisters in great need.
On September 22nd, we welcome our 7th and 8th grade students. Although parents have the option of Distance Learning, the majority of our students are back at school each day. We are excited to now have all grade levels back in school after 7 months.
On September 8th, Saint Anne School officially reopened for students in Grades Preschool to Grade Six. Students are required to wear a face mask, all desks have a desk shield and are separated from each other by between 4 and 6 feet. There are hand washing stations outside and hand sanitizer by classroom doors. We thank all of our parents and board members who worked tirelessly to get our doors reopened for another wonderful year!
